  1. We never really got into 3rd edition all that much, honestly. I mostly play a bastardized mix of 1st and 2nd edition, with bits of 3rd (mostly the Book of Vile Darkness and some of the demons and other OGL monsters). We know this system, we’ve houseruled it to fit our needs, and we can play at the drop of a hat. 4th will have to show that it’s vastly superior to previous editions to claim a place on our gaming shelf.

Even worse, I’ve started to seriously dabble in crafting my own system from scratch, inspired by such work as Sorcerer and the BFRPG. This is likely to produce a system ever more closely tailored to our needs and interests in gaming. If I meet success here, it’s very unlikely we’ll even be shopping for new gaming systems much anymore.

That all said, it’s certainly possible we’ll get at least one copy of the new PHB in order to take part in other people’s games.

  2. My group is firmly entrenched in 3.5 and will most likely stay there for at least the next year or so. Our group has been playing for a long time and have played through D&D Skills and Powers, 3.0 and 3.5 – no one is interested in setting aside all their books to run out and buy new ones.

Please keep us updated on your progress on your own system and if you put up a website for it – I think everyone would be interested.

  3. Geeze, does the world need another fantasy heartbreaker? ;p

I’ve got the first draft done and my wife is critiquing it currently. It’s probably 50+ manhours away from being fit for public consumption.
