RPG Blog Carnival – Computer, paint me a picture

I’m sure there were many who saw the topic for this month’s blog carnival (see the kick-off post, Good Morning, Dave) and stood there clutching their books and dice screaming at the screen, “Noooo! Not my game,” and I certainly understand that, but AI could be a great Game Master assistant too.
Let’s face it, most of us can’t draw, nor do we have the option of taking photos of a dragon mech, or a pirate from deep space, a wizard in contemplation, but give us a bit of AI help . . . .

And suddenly we have imagery to work with.
Personally, being able to pull an image like one of the above up on a screen, or print it out to drop on the table, with a dramatic flare, adds to the game. Yes, you can have the players work out for themselves what those images are, but sometimes you want to convey the image directly as you want them focusing on other things – the sudden need for battle tactics, how they should go about negotiating their safe passage, or wondering if that rumor about bothering the wizard is true.
Neither approach is wrong, and both can be used together, maybe the image is the primary NPC of the moment, or maybe a painting hanging on the wall that caught their eye, there are many ways you could use imagery.
So I ask, have you ever used AI generated art in your games? Would you be opposed to seeing it used at your gaming table?
For the record, I created the images on NightCafe but the words here are all mine.
