Another Legend Passes
I had hoped to post something over the last few days but was unable to due to the workload at my job but in the midst of my reading tonight I came across the announcement that Arthur C. Clarke passed away.
Most will remember him for his outstanding science fiction contributions, in particular 2001: A Space Odyssey which I think just about anyone that’s enjoyed the genre has enjoyed and even more saw the film.
There’s a nice write up on Bloomberg for those that are interested in learning a bit more about the man behind who gave us HAL.
I was greatly saddened by the loss of Sir Arthur, he was one Hell of a seminary influence on me as a young SF enthusiast, his writing dragged my min out among the stars! Others, like Roger Zelazny and Poul Anderson have gone too; the Universe, never mind the world, is the poorer. I am not a happy bunny as a reader of late, we’ve also lost David Gemmell, one of the greatest Fantasy writers ever, IMO, and news it I believe that Terry Pratchett, the man who makes Fantasy funny, is also ill. Taken with the recent death of Gary Gygax I am beginning to feel as though the world is closing in!
Keep it up, Scot!
