Ending an Era

One of the most difficult decisions you can make is to decide to stop doing something you love or something that you feel just has to continue on.

Today is one of those days when I made one of those decisions.

It is with a bit of a heavy heart that I announce that I will be shutting down the RPG Blog Alliance hub and associated work here at of Dice and Dragons on December 31, 2022.

When the original site for the RPG Blog Alliance shut down in 2015, and after giving it some thought I put forth the idea of taking over as the administrator of the group. It took a bit of doing but the rpgba hash tag lives on, we attempted to move to Google+, and then later to MeWe, but as I now look at the engagement and the value that that the Alliance provided, it appears that it no longer has the luster it once did.

Now, to be clear this is ONLY the RPG Blog Alliance that I’m talking about here. This blog, and the RPG Blog Carnival will continue on – I have no plans to shut down either. of Dice and Dragons has been around a long time and while I may not post as much as I should, there’s a fair amount of material here and I want to keep it available as well as add to it. While it may not have the activity it once had, the RPG Blog Carnival I feel is a vital part of our hobby that provides the opportunity to share and discover not just blogs, but also ideas and authors we may not have been exposed to otherwise.

I know that for some this will come as a shock, for others, there will be thoughts of this being long over due, but I hope all will have fond memories of that nugget that they found when checking out an RPGBA site.

I have other changes that I will be making as a result of this, some of them will help to ease this closure and some that will help me focus on areas that I feel need to be addressed.
